                Envirothon
                In Jefferson County since 1993

Teams of high school students throughout Jefferson County compete in a variety of topics: Soils, Aquatics, Forestry, and Wildlife issues. Students are also judged
on videos they produce to resolve an environmental issue. The current issue changes each year.

Our Envirothon is held at the NYS Zoo at Thompson Park each spring.  The winning team from
Jefferson County moves on to compete at the New York State Envirothon.

The winning team from the New York State competition moves on to compete in North America's largest environmental education competition for high school students.  The Canon Envirothon is an international event!

Students AND teachers enjoy the day!

5th grade students learn life-saving tips from local professionals at Old McDonald's Farm in Sackets Harbor.  Students visit several safety stations to learn important safety tips!

Farm Home Safety Day Camp promotes safety to prevent injuries and fatalities. The dairy tour adds the benefit of a lesson in agriculture and the possibility of seeing a newborn calf enter the world.

Our goal is to reach every family in Jefferson County by educating 5th grade students in every school.
